Medicare is Government Insurance that is available to all seniors 65 and older who have paid taxes for at least 40 quarters. Also, any individual under the age of 65 who has paid the required number of quarters of taxes and deemed disabled by Social Security for 24 months may be eligible. Others that are disabled may qualify if they are dependents of someone who qualifies or may have been disabled as a child and reached the age in which Medicaid stops covering as primary.
Medicare is made up of two parts, A- Hospitalization and B- Medical. There is no part D (prescription drug coverage, it must be purchased separately). There are no Networks in Medicare but also no limits to out-of-pocket costs. Also, when you become eligible for Medicare, Part “A” will start automatically. You must start Part “B” or face a penalty, unless you have Creditable Coverage. Then, you must also enroll in some form of part “D” or face a penalty, unless you have some form of creditable Coverage.
There are so many confusing parts of Medicare and to add to that what options are there to handle cost that Medicare doesn’t cover. At Health & Life Insurance Solutions, you can leave that to us.
